Ther are several sectins of great-wall : Badaling section Great Wall is about 75 kilometers
northwest of Beijing, and it is the best preserved part of the Great Wall.
Bade means in English "convenient transportation to all directions" Simatai, located in the north of Miyun county,
120km northeast of Beijing, holds the access to Gubeikou, a strategic
pass in the eastern part of the Great Wall. Originally built during the
Northern Qi dynasty (550-577) and rebuilt in the Hongwu years of the Ming
dynasty by Qi Jiguang, this section of Great Wall is the only part of
the Great Wall which keeps the original features of the Ming dynasty Great
Wall. Mutianyu
Section Great Wall lies about 70 kilometers ( 43, 4 miles ) northeast
of Beijing in Huairou County. This section measures 2,250 meters in length
with 22 watchtowers, but now only 1, 700- meter ]ong wall with 14- watchtowers
is open to the public. Huanghuacheng (Yellow Flower Great
Wall : When summer comes, all the villages and houses are deeply immersed
in yellow flowers, hence the name Huanghuacheng (Yellow Flower Great Wall).
Early in the Yuan dynasty, here used to be dotted with prosperous villages
and in the Ming dynasty, it became a town of military importance, named
"Benzhenguan Pass". Beacon towers were used for making signal
of warning messages when the enemy was sighted. Huangyaguan Pass of the Great Wall
was an important pass under the Jizhou fortressed town in the Ming Dynasty,
lying 20 km northeast of Jixian county, Tianjin. Jinshanling Great Wall about 150 kilometers
away from Beijing lies in the mountainous area in Ruanping county of Hebei
province - a key military stronghold. The structure was mainly built in
1570 of Ming dynasty. Pass Valley From Nankou to Badaling there
are altogether four passes. They are. Nankou Pass, Juyongguan Pass, Shangguan
Pass and Badaling Pass. Looking-Toward-Beijing Rock:
East of Badaling Pass lies a big rock known as "Looking- Toward Beijing
Rock". Originally this rock was a huge rock of 7 meters long and
2 meters wide, but just because the road was constructed and the roadbed
was filled up a lot, this rock looks not that huge and high as before.
Cloud-Terrace :This is an ancient marble
platform known as "Cloud Terrace". It was huilt in 1345 during
the Yuan Dynasty ( 1206 1368 ), inside Juyong Pass. There used to be three
Tibetan style pagodas built on the terrace with a road passing through
under it from north to south. |
